Sundays game showed what the Utah baseball team is capable of doing. Timely hits and great pitching lead to a victory over the previously undefeated Washington State Cougars, 4-1. Rick Anton, in his third career start for the Utes, pitched wonderfully all day. Mixing his upper 80's fastball with a devastating curve, Anton only allowed 4 hits in 7 innings while striking out 9.
Hits in crucial situations also spelled victory for the Utes. C.J. Cron, coming off a quad injury, smashed a homerun to right field and hit a bullet to center to score the 4th and final run. Devin Walker also contributed with the bat, hammering his 3rd homerun of the season.
Zach Adams came in relief of Anton and pitched two scoreless innings while striking out 2. It is Adams second save of the season, and kept the Utes above .500 with an overall record of 6-5. The Utes will have a few days off before heading up to Oregon State this Thursday. Scheduled game time is set for 3PM on Friday afternoon.
